Call for Pre-proposals

The Institute for Mathematical Sciences (IMS) of the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites interested persons from academia and industry, here in Singapore and overseas, to participate in the organization of thematic programs to be held wholly or partly at IMS with funding from the Institute. These programs, each lasting from one to six months, should have a well-defined theme or themes that are at the forefront of current research, and should be of international interest as well as of interest or relevance to the local scientific community. Typically, a program should involve both international and local organizers. Interdisciplinary programs in areas that interface with the mathematical sciences are encouraged.

A soft copy of the pre-proposal should be sent to the Director of the Institute at imsdir@nus.edu.sg at least 2 years before the start of the program. Authors of pre-proposals are advised to make the pre-proposals understandable to non-specialists and to avoid unnecessary jargon. Pre-proposals on interdisciplinary programs should indicate how scientists from across the disciplinary backgrounds involved may benefit from mutual interaction and collaboration, and how such interactions and/or collaborations are to be brought about within the program.
